Artist Biography: Kyra Joachim
Kyra Joachim was born and raised here in Terrace. As a child and teenager, Kyra always has had an affinity with art and creative pursuits, mostly focused on drawing and acrylic paint before taking a step back from art in her 20’s. Over a decade later Kyra has rediscovered her love of fine arts. In 2024 Kyra submitted her first piece to the Skeena Salmon Art Show and never looked back. She has submitted several pieces to various open shows through the Terrace Art Gallery since, including being awarded People’s Choice Award for her painting “Frosted Spruce in the 2025 show “Art of Winter”. Since then, oils have become her painting medium of choice. In 2025 Kyra became a member of the Clay Arts of Terrace Society (CATS) and has enjoyed actively learning the art of ceramics. Some of Kyra’s pottery can be seen in the current YXT display cases in the middle entrance of the airport. Kyra’s piece “Fly on the Water” was selected as a permanent feature at the Ksyen Regional Hospital here in Terrace. Kyra also has a painting in this year’s Skeena Salmon Art Show this August at the Terrace Art Gallery.
