I have been involved in making pottery for the past 30 years. My first teacher was Eva Bebbington, who started the original pottery studio in Terrace in the late 1970's. When I retired from my career as a school teacher, I set up my own studio in my basement and have been an avid potter ever since. My business name is Thistle Pottery and I sign each piece with the thistle logo.
I usually work in white clay fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. I make pieces for everyday use, home decor, or whimsical handmade animals. I try to keep up on all the latest techniques by attending workshops and learning from other potters in the district. All my functional pieces are food safe, lead free, dishwasher safe and can be used in the conventional or microwave oven. I currently sell my pottery in Prince Rupert and Terrace.
